Bio

Dr. Tamika Quick, is a dynamic and visionary Woman of Color, who inspires and empowers future generations of young women to authentically live and lead with purpose. Over the course of the last nineteen years, Dr. Quick has worked in higher education, with a growing passion in empowering, advocating, and supporting young women of color. 

Dr. Alberta “Tamika” Quick is a first-generation college student born in Harlem, New York City, and raised in Passaic, NJ.  She holds a B.A. in Marketing and Communications from Ramapo College of New Jersey, an M.A. in Counseling with a concentration in Student Affairs Personnel from Montclair State University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Saint Peter’s University. She currently serves as the Assistant Secretary, Academic and Student Support Programs for the NJ Office of the Secretary for Higher Education (OSHE). 

It was while working at an institution for higher learning she was introduced to ACE Women’s Network NJ, a non-profit organization committed to advancing women in higher education who actively identify, develop, encourage, advance, link, and support women in higher education.  Dr. Quick served as a Board Member for three years; during her term recognized the importance of providing representation for young women of color. It was at this time Dr. Quick began mentoring young women pursuing their academic degrees and career trajectories. 

In an effort to influence young Women nationally Dr. Quick serves as a Training Consultant for the Ceceilyn Miller Institute (CMI), an innovative leadership and diversity training, non-profit organization, dedicated to the cause of social justice and leadership development. This organization afforded her the opportunity to facilitate The United Collegiate Women’s Leadership Conference, a student leadership conference for young women impacting over 150 students annually.

In 2020-2021, Dr. Quick decided to align her passion with her purpose and founded Leadership Academy for Young Women, LLC and Leading Young Women, Inc. a 501c3 non-profit organization, now referred to as The Leading Young Women Network. The organizations aim to create environments in which females cultivate healthy academic and social relationships, gain confidence, recognize their worth, advocate for themselves, and recognize that their leadership and civic duty influence their lives and the lives of many others. The vision is to create inclusive spaces where young women can develop confidence and a strong voice.

Dr. Quick understands the importance of belonging to communities that continue to uplift and support women. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc. - Paterson Alumnae Chapter, an EMERGE - NJ C/o 2023 participant and recently became a member of Impact 100 - Garden State. All organizations that work support and advance the work of women. 

Last, but certainly not least, Tamika is also the proud mother of two teenage children A’Janae & Amir Murray. It was in raising her teenage daughter that her vision of creating Leading Young Women, Inc. was validated, knowing that young women, such as her daughter, needed spaces to develop into their whole selves authentically and unapologetically!
